Glacier HR Services, Inc. (GHRS) has been in business for over 30 years and in that time I have learned a thing or two. I want to pass on some of those lessons and information so you can apply it to your situation to be more successful.

Overview of Our Training Process

Our programs focus on training and coaching leaders and identifying operational constraints.  We use specific problem-solving processes for the identification and communication of KPIs.  Through the course of all our programs, we present specific training topics (these are identified according to need).  We then teach these topics through the course of the program and coach participants on the application of the skills taught.

We use homework assignments to encourage real-time, real-life application of the concepts we teach.  So, after each presentation a homework assignment is given and at the beginning of the next session, the homework is reviewed.  Again, this is to hold leaders accountable to the program themes and action plans they develop to apply concepts for results.  They are held accountable to these action plans by their boss, peers, and the instructor/coach.

We shadow leaders to identify their strengths and weaknesses and develop specific action plans for correction.  We also provide several assessments to better identify and categorize concerns.

To facilitate engagement, involvement, and awareness, we post what we call Brown Boards to capture processes, forms, actions, bottlenecks, and barriers that the team is currently experiencing and to obtain suggestions for improvement.

After coaching on the purpose of the Board, this is communicated through leaders as a way to involve everyone.  This also promotes the visibility of the program to workers and helps hold leaders accountable.

Often managers ask why they couldn’t or should just complete these tasks on their own.  What we find is that numerous organizations know what to do and that these tasks should be done, but the collection and organization of the information and the training on implementation takes time active frontline managers do not have.

Our role is to collect and organize the information into a simple, usable fashion and then train leaders on the implementation and communication of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), accountability conversations, positive recognition to increase performance, the need to explain the why, etc.  The objective is to correct less effective leaders and enhance the performance of your best leaders.

We developed Glacier HR Services, Inc.’s Human Potential ProductsTM to give people information, strategies, skills, and concept, they can use to increase the human potential in themselves and in the people they work with.  We believe it is the human potential in people that gives organizations its productivity and the world the solutions it needs to the problems we are all facing.

It will be people’s growth, development, and potential that solve the world problems.  It is leaders that need to help people open their minds, respond positively to critical feedback, and move toward the resolution of critical information to solve complex problems.

Because people spend most of their lives working with others at work, we believe that if we can make the workplace more enjoyable and productive, and we can get people treating each other better at work, they will, in kind, treat each other better at home and visa-versa;  therefore, making homes and workplaces better places for all, where problems get solved and people continuously grow and develop.

If we can do this with half the lives we touch and the people we touch can do it with half the people they touch, we will hit a hundredth monkey (human) factor in a few years, and it will change the world of work.

We believe this because that is better than not believing and getting stuck in quagmires of frustration and distress.
